Summer’s almost here! The mall is busy with people wearing shorts, tank tops, and smelling like sun screen. I find myself puttering around in the store as they come and go to purchase natural bug-repelling products from our Bug-Off collection for camping trips and outings for the season.
I have had my eye on our Tahitian Vanilla Reed diffusers in the store over the past week. They smell delicious and I am thinking they would be perfect for each of the bathrooms in my new condo, to keep them smelling sweet and clean.

Below are Escents’ top 5 tips on using aromatherapy to make your summer just a bit more relaxing and enjoyable:
1. Bug off! To dispel mosquitoes and other picnic or BBQ pests, put a few drops of Citronella oil in the melted wax of a candle or place a few drops on the BBQ coals. Or, try Escents Bug Off Aroma Mist.
2. Add scent to your firewood. Cypress, Cedarwood, Frankincense and Pine Needle all make wonderful firewood oils. Drop approximately 2 or 3 drops of oil or blend on a dried log and allow time for the oil to soak in before putting on the fire.
3. For burns and scalds, put a few drops of Tea Tree and / or Lavender directly onto the affected area.
4. Cool it! Cool the body in the summer by putting 6 to 8 drops of Eucalyptus oil in the bath. Blend the Eucalyptus with carrier oil first, then put into the bath for better dispersal.
5. A little too much sun? To help with sunburn recovery blend Lavender, Tea Tree and Chamomile to Comfrey Gel and apply to affected area. Or try Escents Skin Repair Aloe Spray or Lavender Provence Hydrosol spray.

Escents Rejuvenating + Tahitian Vanilla = Creamsicle
Now that we’re starting to see some sun, I wanted to share something to get everyone into a sweet summer mood.
If you mix Rejuvenating and Tahitian Vanilla together in an unscented roll-on or in an unscented lotion, or pretty much anything unscented, you can smell like a sweet Creamsicle. I love this smell, it’s sweet and tasty. So good you could eat it!
If you have this custom-mixed at one of our retail stores, all you have to do is roll it on and roll out into the sun smelling like a tasty summer treat.

A tough day for me today, I feel a little behind… still in weekend mode. And a very long weekend it was! I spent most of it with my three boys at a hockey tournament, in a very cold ice rink while it was 20 degrees outside. I was settling into work today, and looking forward to a productive Monday doing some new product research, when my son’s school called saying that he wasn’t feeling well. So I picked up my sick child from school – and now my so-called sick child is on the couch eating his second piece of pizza watching Scooby Doo. Ahhhhhh! Guess that productive day will now have to be a productive night.

My name is Lisa, and I am the Manager at the Escents Willowbrook Mall location. I love my job, my store, the people, and of course, the products we carry! I’ve volunteered to contribute to the Escents blog to communicate with not only current customers but anyone who is interested in aromatherapy and aroma living.
Most Escents products contain pure essential oils and are incredibly healthy for your skin and to inhale. You could say everything is for anything. My favourite smell would have to be Breeze, the aroma blend with Bergamot and Oakmoss top notes. Breeze makes me want to sit on a porch looking at the ocean, with not a worry in the world. I always get a feel of positive energy whenever I put the oil in a diffuser, or put the Organic Intensive Hand Repair Cream on my hands. Now the lotion, let me tell you, is amazing. It comes in this cute little blue box and it has a thicker consistency, but it soaks in super quickly and isn’t greasy. The Hand Repair Cream is actually 99.7 % plant derived. I’ve managed to get my mother addicted to the stuff!
